Ok. So I tried that first solution. I had a fresh install of WinXp pro and nothing else installed. First thing to do was to install vga-driver from specific location etc.. Everything went fine but when I try to run 3d application it gets stuck — BSOD and restart… By the way step 11. There is ATI Radeon Hd 2400 xt, but it is actually missing word mobility…

This is starting to bother.. Acer tech.support is bouncing me from 1 place to another. ATI doesn’t provide support for mobile products….

Did you try my solution ?

I personally didn’t try Hendrik’s one with new Acer drivers, but I know for 100% that mine works! You can actually extract the drivers without installation if you play with the package file…
As for the shutdown issues, well just make sure that you have all the windows xp updates installed etc… I don’t have such problems and I never had…

If it is the camera issue, then here is my driver:
Bison 7.32.701.6

That didn’t work unfortenately in my case. I have all ready tried the driver provided in acer FTP-site (VGA_ATI_M74_8.403WHQL-XP-070811a1-052202C-Acer_XP.zip 132413 KB 4.10.2007 9:55:00)
I also have those shutdown problems. Please post comments if you have solutions.

Acer has released a new ATI driver package on its website…and… this one works!

Get it at ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/travelmate_6592/driver/

(note: I’ve still got shutdown issues. It appears to be caused by the built-in webcam, but no new drivers for the Bison camera yet… just have to work without the webcam for now)

Thx for the tip… very usefull.

Btw: do you also have the problem that the laptop does not shut down (it is stuck on the “windows is now shuting down” screen). Any idea/tip how to solve that?
